About Us

At Little Steps of Joy Academy, our Play-Based Learning curriculum infuses social-emotional and character development lessons through imaginative play with friends that help foster compassion, creativity, gratitude, and honesty in children.

Knowing the brain develops more rapidly during the first five years than any other point in a person’s life, this purposeful approach to play helps young children learn and retain valuable lessons, providing early learning experiences that are an important foundation to a child’s quality of life and future success.

As early as six months old, babies begin to show signs of empathy, making the nurturing of social-emotional skills even more important from birth. Imaginative play helps children make sense of the world, solve problems, learn to regulate their emotions, and develop their voices and opinions while bolstering their self-esteem.

Samona Altman is honored to serve as the Owner/Operator of Little Steps of Joy Academy. Having graduated from nursing school she enjoys teaching and taking care of children. Samona has devoted more than 13 years to working in with young children and their families. She is committed to creating a strong, faith-based educational program in her daycare center where egalitarian values, sound foundational skills and play with a purpose are always in focus.

We moved to Texas and didn’t have any family here at all and finding childcare for my now 2-year-old was honestly so scary. We interviewed several different centers and eventually spoke with Samona. “Ms. Samona and her staff have been amazing for our family. Since being with Ms. Samona and Ms. Mimi my children have not been ill. In the large centers my kids were always sick. Flu, hand foot and mouth, fevers, colds, and congestion. Since being at LSOJ my kids have not been sick. They are engaged daily with activities. Pictures are posted on their digital accounts, so we know what they did during the day. Ms. Samona loves to have celebrations, parties, and picture days. My daughter learned how to count 1- 20, letters and letter sounds, and how to write and spell her name. They also teach her life skills like being respectful and communicating with her words even if she is frustrated. They are patient with my son who has an expressive language delay. They encourage him to communicate. When I tell them what we are working on in speech therapy they also implement it at daycare. Ms. Samona is transparent, and you can ask her anything and she will answer you honestly. Ms. Samona and Ms. Mimi are caring, loving, and my kids love attending.

"Our experience with Little Steps of Joy Academy was full of love from day 1. They took great care of our daughter Zola from the time she was only 7.5 weeks old to about 19 months. The teaching Little Steps provide is top tier learning & unique to the needs of each child. Communication was always open rather it be a concern, ask a question or just a check-in. Their app is helpful by providing daily updates including pictures, nap time, meals/snack time & general information about the Academy We highly recommend Little Steps if you or someone you know is in need of child care!!

LSOJ Academy in a few words is an investment for your Children's education, social skills, and mannerism. The basic fundamentals a parent would instill in their child can be carried out by the staff at LSOJ Academy. One of Grayson's favorite features about LSOJ Academy is the variety in their meals. I could never get him to eat at home but I knew he was filling up on food at daycare. Grayson has always been welcomed back with open arms even though we left LSOJ Academy full time and he only does pop ins every once in a while.

The best childcare I've ever put my son into! Samona, Ms. Mimi, and Ms. Debra have taught my son so much in the time he's attended. He knows his colors, ABCs, and can tell me animals and he's not even 2!! This outstanding group of people are setting the bar high for childcare. I've never had a day care that treated my child so well. They genuinely care about him and it show.10/10 highly recommend.
Overall, we would highly recommend Little Steps of Joy Daycare to any parents looking for a high-quality daycare for their children. Our son has grown and developed so much over the past year, and we attribute a lot of that to the care and education he has received at Little Steps of Joy
The School has also organized many engaging events throughout the year, which have been a great way for the children to learn and have fun at the same time. They also have monthly themes which keep the curriculum fresh and exciting for the kids. The teachers also keep us updated throughout the day with pictures, videos and messages via an easy to use app, this gives us peace of mind knowing our child is well taken care of. The school is also very clean and well-organized which is a big plus.
"Little Steps of a Joy Daycare is an absolutely amazing place for the children to learn and grow! My 2 year old son has been attending the school in south Arlington, Texas for over a year now and we couldn't be happier with the service they provide. The teachers, Ms Samona, Ms Debbie and Ms Mimi, along with the rest of the team, are all incredibly dedicated and loving, and they have created a warm and nurturing environment for the children. They have an emphasis on fun and education and they make sure that the children are engaged and stimulated throughout the day.
